God Desires Listeners, Not Leaders!

Luke 9:23-36
As Jesus faced suffering and death, even He needed strength to embrace His Father’s plan [will]. “And
while He was praying,…” (30a) Jesus appearance was transformed, and Moses and Elijah appeared in
glory discussing His pending ‘departure’ [death]. When the disciples woke up, Peter presented his great
idea not understanding the purpose of the transfiguration. He wanted to capture this moment building
three tabernacles for Jesus, Moses and Elijah. As he spoke, a cloud formed overshadowing them
causing them fear. Then a voice came, “…’This is My Son, My Chosen One; listen to Him!’” (35b). God
does not give us the supernatural so we can captivate the moment, but to encourage and instruct. He
does not need our ideas or leadership, but our attention! Jesus is in unique relation to God, He is God’s
Chosen leader, and our place is to listen!
