Luke 18:24-27
Speaking to a young ruler saddened by conditions for following Jesus, He said, “…’How hard it is for
those who are wealthy to enter the kingdom of God!’” (24b). Jesus added, “For it is easier for a camel to
go through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” (25) Why? Because we
cannot be governed by God when we are dependent on, or attached to, wealth. The good news is,
“…’The things that are impossible with people are possible with God.” (25). Only God’s power can
break our bondage to wealth. We do not need to follow the path of this young ruler. We do not need to
go in sorrow. Let us surrender all to Jesus and be led forth with joy (Isaiah 55)!
