Luke 2:39-52
Because of His parents obedience, Jesus continued to grow physically, emotionally and spiritually (40).
His parents faithfully made an annual trip for Passover to Jerusalem. After the full number of days were
completed, they headed home. A day later they noticed Jesus was not with them. Possibly they thought
He was with friends because they had never faced a behavior issue with Him. They found Him in the
temple “…the midst of teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions.” (46b) He
responded, “…’Why is it that you were looking for Me? Did you not know that I had to be in My Father’s
house?’” (49b) Jesus’ pure undefiled nature made Him hungry to learn from those serving in God’s
house. So it is, when our hearts are pure in Christ, we become hungry to learn from those serving in
God’s house.
