2 Chronicles 9:1-9
When the queen of Sheba heard of Solomon’s fame, she visited with difficult questions and a large quantity of treasures. When she heard his answers, saw his projects and those whom he oversaw, she was “breathless” (2). Though she heard a report of his words and wisdom, she did not believe it until she witnessed it with her own eyes. After this she said, “…And behold, the half of the greatness of your wisdom was not told me. You surpass the report that I heard.” (6b). When our testimony is rooted in what God has done in and through us, God is glorified. When people witness what God does then the reports will not be adequate to describe them. If God is absent from our works, we will rely on our marketing often tainted with exaggeration which undermines our integrity and and our testimony. The queen considered those under Solomon to be blessed and turned and blessed God Himself who worked on his behalf. In this case God was glorified and Solomon was blessed from her treasures. Do we seek to glorify ourselves in our accomplishments, or are we seeking God to be glorified in our work which is only possible through God alone!
