Luke 6:46-49
“Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?” (46) Jesus illustrates the futility of
religious language and information without obedience. Some rest in wonderful spiritual experiences, but
do not honor or obey Christ teaching. Those who hear and obey Christ teaching will survive the
severest of storms. Those with information without application are like those who build houses without
foundations. When hit by life’s storms, they are devastated. It is not the depth of spiritual encounters or
experiences enabling our survival. It is the depth of our obedience to Christ. We must walk in
obedience to what we learn or we will walk in a false sense of security of our knowledge. Let us not be
content with information, but press on into application.
