Luke 13:22-30
When Jesus was headed to Jerusalem, someone asked, “…’Lord, are there just a few who are being
saved?” (23b). He then addresses responsibility rather than a religious group. “Strive to enter through
the narrow door; for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able. “ (24) Being part of a church
does not make us followers of Christ. In fact, many thinking they are part of His kingdom remain outside
His rule. The door will be shut and after that no amount of begging will change Jesus’ mind. “…’I tell
you, I do not know where you are from; DEPART FROM ME, ALL YOU EVILDOERS.’” (27) Assembling
with God’s people for worship and teaching is essential and beneficial, but we still bear responsibility of
living in relationship with Christ so evil no longer rules our hearts. Let's follow Jesus before the door is
closed!
