“Now there were some Greeks among those who were going up to worship at the feast; these then came to Philip,……and began to ask him, saying, ‘Sir, we wish to see Jesus.’” (20a, c) The disciples told Jesus and He responded, “…The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.” (23b). Jesus explains by illustration that this hour is realized at His death. He then warned them: “He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal.” (25). Then He calls His servants to follow Him so the Father will honor them. Self-promotion or talent do not enable us to draw people to Christ, but draws them to ourselves. It is only in our death to self, following of Jesus, and being in His presence that releases our Father to honor us with this great privilege of drawing people to Jesus!
