“Now My soul has become troubled; and what shall I say, ‘Father, save Me from this hour’? But for this purpose I came to this hour, Father, glorify Your name.” (27-28a) God’s response came in a voice from heaven assuring us of His glory both past and future. Jesus declares His crucifixion will draw all men to Himself (32). God’s ways are not ours because He often acts contrary our natural expectations. Jesus exhorted His followers to walk in light while they have it or they will be overtaken by darkness. Ignoring or rejecting of God’s word has serious and eternal consequences. However, “While you have the Light, believe in the Light, so that you may become sons of Light.” (36a). Whether we walk in light, or are overtaken by darkness hinges on our response to God’s Word! To walk contrary to God’s Word is to walk in darkness, but to walk in obedience to God’s Word is to walk in the light!
