John 13:31-35 “Famous Last Words”

“Therefore when he [Judas] had gone out, Jesus said, ‘Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in Him;” (31) We don’t often associate death with glory as Jesus did here. From the beginning of His ministry to the end, Jesus always spoke of His coming death as an expression of glory by fully obeying His Father. He then speaks to His disciples as children seeking to prepare them for His departure. “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” (34-35). May these last words of Christ ring in our hearts for all eternity! However, we can only glorify God when we are denying ourselves and following Him fully!
