“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” (15) As Jesus neared crucifixion, He clarified the evidence of love for Him is seen in attentiveness [reflects valuing] and obedience to His commands (Word). We often measure our love by various expressions of affection and praise. However, devaluing and disobeying Christ’s word is the foundation of healthy praise and worship. Without obedience to God’s Word, praise is seen as hypocritical and empty. Jesus promised He would never leave us but is with us in the person of the Holy Spirit. When we embrace His commands, the Father releases His love to us and Jesus reveals His person to us (21). As my mom use to say, “It’s not how high you jump, but how straight you walk when you hit the ground.” Let us give evidence of our love for Christ by walking in agreement with His Word! By the way, I still jump and dance for Christ in obedience to Scripture. We do this in recognition and gratitude for Who He is , what He has said [His Word], and what He has done.
