John was sent by God to testify of Light [Jesus]. He was not the light, but one pointing to Him. “There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man.” (9) Jesus was both the Word and the Light to the entire world, but rejected by the same. Even those who belonged to Him, did not receive Him. “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become the children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of man, but of God.” (12-13) When we take hold of the Light, we are able to see as never before. Rejection of the Light keeps us bound to the erroneous perspectives of darkness! What seems obvious in light is ridiculed and rejected by those in darkness. Our response to the Light determines the accuracy of our perspective!
