“I have manifested Your name to the men whom You gave Me out of the world; they are Yours and You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word.” (6) This summarizes Jesus’ earthly ministry. He revealed who God was [His name] to those whom God separated from the world, so they have kept His word. Jesus sought to promote the work and word of God. As a result, they understood where He came from and Who sent Him (8). His prayer was not for the world, but for those entrusted to Him. He was leaving this world, but they would continue in it. He is confident they will be kept by who God is as they walk in unity with Him as Jesus did (11). Even in the case of Judas, Jesus did not fail, but it was “…, so that the Scripture would be fulfilled.” (12d). We also are kept by knowing and trusting in Who God is [His Name]! We will never know who we are until we know Who God is!
