Jesus, HIs disciples, and His mother were invited to a wedding in Cana. When they ran out of wine, His mother informed Him. She knew of His miracle birth, the prophetic words spoken, and had witnessed His walk in righteousness. Jesus responded, “…’Woman, what does that have to do with us? My hour has not yet come.’” (3c). She persisted telling the servants, “…’Whatever He says to you, do it.” (5b) Six pots were near by (20-30 gallons each) so Jesus asked them to fill them with water. Then He said, “…’Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter.’” (8b). Now filling them with water definitely seemed silly, but taking some to the headwaiter was risking looking like fools and humiliating the host. However, in spite of the risk they obeyed resulting in honoring the host and manifesting Jesus’ glory. Do we hesitate to obey Jesus because we fear how people will perceive us or others? If so, we will fail to manifest His glory!
