Jesus sought to show His disciples how to live from a spiritual perspective. They were shocked at His conversation with a woman and confused by His sense of satisfaction in doing God’s will (31-34). Then He tells them not to put off the harvest. “Do not say, ‘There are yet four months, and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest.” (35-36) When bound to an earthly or fleshly perspective, we are not be able to see the opportunities before us or experience the great joy awaiting us as we enter our calling. In a day of controversy, conflict and division, what do we see? I believe Jesus is still calling us to ‘lift up our eyes’ so we can both see and do what He has called us to do! To be effective in the spiritual realm, we must look up and not around! Are bound to an earthly perspective or are we lifting up our eyes to see the work Jesus has both prepare and called us to embrace?
