“After these things Jesus was walking in Galilee, for He was unwilling to walk in Judea because the Jews were seeking to kill Him.” (1) As the Feast of Booths approached, Jesus’ brothers mocked Him about going to Judea so He could become famous or known. “…’If You do these things, show Yourself to the world.’ For not even His brothers were believing in Him.” (4b-5). Jesus’ response was to point out His testimony about their evil caused Him to be hated, but they were not hated because they were of the world (7). Jesus went to the feast but was not motivated He did not defend Himself from false accusations, but persisted in doing His Father’s will. It is interesting that, “…no one was speaking openly of Him for fear of the Jews.” (13). We must not be motivated by others perception of us, but have the wisdom to honor our Father.
