The Pharisees challenged the accuracy of Jesus assertion He is the Light of the world. They said His testimony lacked weight because He testified about Himself. Jesus responded stating the truth of His testimony knowing “…where I came from and where I am going; but you do not know where I come from or where I am going.” (14b). Jesus also asserted: “You judge according to the flesh, I am not judging anyone.” (15) His judgment flowed from His relationship with the Father and not from His mere flesh as did theirs. Their hostility and ignorance of the Christ reflected a faulty reliance on religion without relationship with the Father. To be in harmony with each other, we must first be in harmony with God the Father so we are not trapped into faulty perceptions and false security.
