“Jesus heard that they had put him out, and upon finding him, He said, ‘Do you believe in the Son of Man?’” (35) It is interesting that the blind man who was healed by Jesus did not recognize Him because he had not seen Him. In the context of great rejection and being put out of the synagogue, Jesus comes to him identifying himself and inviting him to believe in Him. “And he said, ‘I believe, Lord.’ And he worshiped Him.” (38) The most natural result of believing in Jesus is to worship Him in gratitude for salvation. Sometimes the blind see better than those who see, understand better than those educated. Jesus then declared the condition of blindness is not an obstacle to seeing, but declaration of our ability to see blinds us. Sin was not the obstacle, but their saying, ‘We see’ traps them in sin. We should note that when Saul became blind, he was then able to see (Acts 9). There is nothing more blinding than a false confession.
