As Joshua neared death, he reminded Israel of God’s faithfulness to keep His promises: “…not one of them has failed.” (14c). However, as God keeps His word regarding promises, He also keeps His word regarding threats or warnings. God is a faithful father and, because of His great love, will not allow His children to escape the consequences of disobedience. “When you transgress the covenant of the LORD your God,…………….……, then the anger of the LORD will burn against you,. And you will perish quickly from off the good land which He has given you.” (16a & c) We either live in the light of His truth or suffer the consequences of ignoring it. Good fathers discipline the children they love!
