After circumcision, healing, and re-establishing the Passover celebration, Joshua saw a man with his sword drawn. He asked, “…’Are you for us or for our adversaries?’ He said, ‘No; rather I indeed come now as captain of the host of the LORD.” (13c-14a). The question is not, is God on our side, but are we on His side. God does not come just to support us, but comes to take charge for our benefit. “The captain of the LORD’s host said to Joshua, ‘Remove your sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy.’ And Joshua did so.” (56) His sandals carried dust from past failures and successes and prevent direct contact of the feet to Holy Ground. NOW, in this holy place, God takes charge and is in command. For true and lasting success, we must allow God to be in charge! Who is in charge of your life?
