Luke 16:1-15
A manager of a rich man was found to be wasting his money, so he called him to account because he
was firing him. He was to weak to take a job involving labor and to proud to beg, so he decided to
approach his master’s debtors and bring down their bill so they would receive him when fired. He was
commended by his master for being shrewd. Jesus then exhorted: “I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain
friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwelling.” (9). How we
use earthly finances has an impact on our eternal destiny. Jesus challenges His disciples: “So if you
have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?” (11). There is
a direct link to our use of money and receiving from God spiritual wealth!
