Luke 23:13-25
When Herod returned Jesus to Pilate, he sought to reason with the Jews. After examination, he nor
Herod could find grounds for His death and tried to release Him to fulfill an obligation during their feast.
However, they cried out, “…’Away with this man, and release for us Barabbas!’” (18b). Pilate made
another attempt at reason, but their passion escalated demanding he “…’Crucify, crucify Him!” (21b)¸
At Pilate’s third attempt to reason with them, “… they were insistent, with loud voices asking that He be
crucified. And their voices began to prevail.” (23). When humanity’s passion is inflamed, reason has no
impact and will not be satisfied until it prevails in its demands. I remember seven words keeping me
aware of this truth: Passion Prevents Proper Perception Promoting Perverted Pursuits!
