Luke 1:57-80
God gave Zacharias the name John for the child he and Elizebeth would have. It means “God is
gracious.” Since receiving the prophetic promise of a son, Zacharias was silenced for his unbelief.
When John was born, many wanted Zacharias to name him after himself or a relative to honor them.
Yet he wrote, “His name is John.” At this declaration, Zacharias tongue was loosed, he was filled with
the Spirit and prophesied regarding the coming Christ, John and salvation. When we say what God
says instead of expressing doubts rooted in fears caused by delayed answers or contrary
circumstances, we are filled with God Spirit, to see what God sees, and say what God says. We must
say what God says not what we see!
