Luke 15:11-24
At the request of his youngest son, a father divided his wealth between his two sons. The youngest
went off to a far away place wasting his entire inheritance becoming impoverished. In this state, he
came to his senses and decided to return to his father, not as a son, but as a servant. “…But while he
was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion for him, and ran and embraced him and
kissed him.” (20b) When we come to our senses and realize our spiritual poverty, our heavenly Father
sees us from afar, feels compassion [not judgment] for us, runs to show us affection, and celebrates our
return. Let us see God for Who He is and not a mere distorted image of Him in sinful humanity!
