2 Chronicles 31:1-21
After this Passover, Judah removed the more false gods and dismantled false forms of worship. Hezekiah appointed the various responsibilities of spiritual leaders: “…for burnt offerings and for peace offerings, to serve and to give thanks and to praise in the gates of the camp of the LORD.” (2c). He also provided for the daily burnt offerings for regular worship “…as it is written in the Law of the LORD.” (3d). To sustain worship it was necessary for the spiritual leaders to be free from other tasks. “Also he told the people who lived in Jerusalem to give the portion due to the priests and the Levites, so that they might devote themselves to the Law of the LORD.” (4) This was not to release them from work, but to release them to the work of God by fully devoting to God and His Word. The people responded with a generosity beyond expectation so their was an abundance for all. “When Hezekiah and the rulers came and saw the heaps, they blessed the LORD and His people Israel.” (He had them to build rooms and appointed officers to oversee for accountability and distribution. Scripture gives high praises to Hezekiah for all he did according to God’s Word while “…seeking his God, he did with all his heart and prospered.” (21b). Only as we seek God with all our heart are we able to do the things that bring blessings
