Pastor Tom reminds us that to understand the text of the Bible, we have to understand the context. He takes on a difficult subject for today regarding relationships, roles and submission as Paul writes about in Ephesians 5:22-33 and 6:1-9. Understanding that our horizontal relationships should be a reflection of our vertical relationship with God, we define the goal of marriage (our most important relationship) as oneness following God’s design. We aim to love as Jesus so loves us and ultimately, when Jesus is leading in a marriage, it doesn’t matter who leads or follows, it is beautiful.
