Luke 7:24-35
Jesus spoke of John the Baptist with great praise. He was not impacted by trends or fads, but spoke as
a prophet the word of God. He did not occupy a position of politic power and wealth, but influenced
many to prepare for the Messiah. “I say to you, among those born of women there is no one greater
than John; yet he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.” (28) The contrasting styles of
Jesus’ and John’s ministry did not impact the religious elite. Jesus says the issue was not His or John's
style, for they were effective among the worst of sinners. Maybe we would be less concerned about our
ministry style and more focused on substance. “Yet Wisdom is vindicated by all her children.”
