Luke 17:30-37
Jesus warns His disciples there will a taking away (to judgment). He already gave examples regarding
the surprising nature of the judgement synonymous with His return. Later in Luke 21:21, He warns them
to flee Judea to the mountains to escape the coming wrath. No matter how close to home, don’t go
back to get any supplies or possessions. Attachment to this material world (remember Lot’s wife) will
make you a subject of God’s judgment. When the disciples asked where they would be taken, Jesus
said: “…Where the body is, there also the vultures will be gathered.” (37b). We only escape God’s
judgment when we have no anchor to this world.
