Luke 5:12-16
When a leprous man saw Jesus: “…he fell on his face and implored Him, saying, ‘Lord, if You are
willing, You can make me clean.’” (12b). He had an obstacle to faith seen in many of us. He was
confident in Jesus ability to heal, but felt unworthy and uncertain of His willingness to do so. Jesus
quickly corrected his flawed thinking: “…’I am willing; be cleansed.’ And immediately the leprosy left
him.” (13bc). Jesus did not perform this miracle for ministry promotion, but insisted he do what was
commanded by Scripture in bringing a cleansing offering to the priest for a testimony. Many today are
more concerned about the need for healing and ministry promotion, than cleansing and doing what is
right from God’s word. This often results in sensationalizing the miracle, rather than a proper testimony
leading to transformation.
