1 Chronicles 16:37-43
King David assigned Asaph and his family to the responsibility of ministering before the ark daily. He put Obed-edom and his family as gatekeepers. Zadok the priest and his family was assigned to serve in Gibeon with continual burnt offerings morning and evenings “…even according to all that is written in the law of the LORD, which He commanded Israel.” (40b). Each of these leaders had a God defined position and responsibility to worship God according to His instructions. They were chosen and designated by name “…to give thanks to the LORD, because His lovingkindness is everlasting.” (41b). This worship was expressed loudly and joyfully utilizing various instruments. David’s desire was not only to bring the ark of God to the center of Israel’s life, but to secure God’s continuous rule among them as leaders by joyful and thankful expressions of worship. This helped them to maintain a proper perspective on God [especially His greatness and goodness] and life in general. “Then all the people departed each to his house, and David returned to bless his household.” (43) Blessings flow from us when we have first established God designed worship in our lives!
